We had such a nice time at the Fort yesterday fishing with friends and family at the Joel A. Thorn Memorial Gathering. Chuck and I agree it was a gorgeous day for such a special event. Many thanks to all who participated and an extra special thank you to Dale for organizing it. Well done!

Here are a few pics of the fishing, family and friends from the day....

Good to see you again Gigi, I had a great time. Always fun to get out with friends and family, while meeting some new ones. HANDS DOWN best day of fishing I have had all year long! Thanks everyone for contributing and pulling this together. I have a hard time putting down this fly rod.

Very enjoyabe gathering. It is hard to imagine the pain that the Thorn family has been through. Still there was an apparent strength and pride that allowed them to enjoy time with others who shared Joel's love of fishing. My hat is off to them and to Dale for organizing this tribute to Joel A Thorn.

Thanks ya'll for all the kind words. The success of this day rose and fell with you. Because of you it got the desired results. About 50 folks were able to attend. We just had a great time.
I'm still a smidge tired so I won't thank you all individually because I would forget someone. The pictures tell the tale. These good folks and those that had donated made it my pleasure.
Here is another link for the prizes and such, I'll also try to load them

A big hug and thank you to everyone who came out to support the Good Shepherd Hospice, my family,  and to remember my son, Joel. Special thanks to the captains, tackle shops, and independents' who donated the raffle items. We raised $295 from the raffle alone. We had a good turnout. We had a good time, but also shed some tears when no one was looking and some when they were. We had Joel on board our boat, wrapped in his favorite D.O.A. shirt, as we had planned on scattering his ashes and letting the fish gather him up to take him out to sea. But it wasn't the time for it and we all agreed to wait for another day.

I have only a few photos to add as most of mine are duplicates of what has already been posted.

First we have GiGi, Matt and Corey who won the three fly rod combos. Gigi won hers with best picture. Matt won biggest fish with a 29 inch red. Cory won smallest fish with a 6 inch grunt that was reduced to 4 inches by points for fishing with family.

This photo is of my son, Brandon, pulling the tickets for the raffle, Dale as Host, and the winner or the Wang Anchor System, Ryan Alise.

This photo is of my son, Brandon, teaching his young lady, Ashley, how to cast a spinning rod.

Thanks again everyone.

What a great cause!

Question, who is the artist who made this?

Does anyone have contact info for them?

Thank you.
