Reply with quote | #1 | Well I got a call from Tony saying he wanted to go flats fishing. He was a little hesitant since the last two charters he took were not as good as he had hoped.I lot of moving around and not so much fish. He asked me how long I have been guiding and I told him 8 yrs and have been fishing the waters since I was 14yrs old. I told him not to worry that I would put him and Joe on the fish. The morning of the trip I hit the flats and the bait was thick with a mix on the sizes. A few throws of the net and I was loaded. I trolled around looking for schools of larger baits and found one and picked up some larger ones for the well. I picked up Tony and Joe and off we went to get on the snook. We get to the mangrove lined grass flat and the troller was deployed. Our first stop I went over some tips and the lines went out. fifteen minutes and Joe gets hooked up to a small snook and brings it to the boat and breaks the ice. 15 minutes later Tony get his first snook and everyone is on the boards. I tell them that as the current picks up the bite would also pick up. Boy did it pick up on the second half of their 4hr trip. We had double hookups and multiple hits around the boat the bite was on.A few healthy's had their way but some decent snook came to the boat. At the end of the trip the bite was still on and Tony latches on to a good one with the head coming just out of the water it was a beast. Then the drag starts screaming and pop the hook gets thrown. Tony looks like I feel. Trust me at this point I feel his pain and he says I can't end a great trip on that note. I said I totally understand so I kept them out another 30 minutes with more snook to the boat they were happy and we called it a day. Tony and Joe ended the day with 20 Snook and two Redfish.

Reply with quote | #3 | The set up was 10lb braid 25lb fluoroand a 1/0 light wire circle hook. After the charter was over going back out for fun 1 or 3 on the hook at once for the fun of it but the gold spoon put a keeper red to the boat. I love the gold spoon it can catch anything and has for me. __________________ Capt. George Hastick

Reply with quote | #4 | We caught a snook on a gold spoon last week. They do catch everything that swims.
Nice report, Captain, When those snook turn on they really turn on, don't they?
