I fished two unnamed lakes in the Carrollwood  area today.  I stopped an thought to myself today is a great day being overcast, an getting a little colder.
I thought I'd give a 8 inch producto black worm a try.  nothing nadda  ten minutes in a change to a Rattle-trap (in crawfish) 1/2oz.
second cast blam 4lber.  i actual thought i was hung up.  I fish 40lbs braid with 3 ft   20lbs. mono leader.
reeling in the fish a saw three other bass trying to take the lure out of the hooked fish mouth.  kinda funny I've never seen bass do this before . reds, an cobia yes but never bass.
for the next hour an a half.  i slaved em
yeah i know i'll take beatin for not having pictures.  I hate taking self pictures.  i need to take lessons from some of you guys.  (some of your self pics are incredible)
i stopped counting at 14 fishing.  caught another 7 or so an a buddy called me to tell me he was slaving the bass at a Trinity lake as well.  his fish were blasting his rage frog.
at that point a started counting again.
my estimate in a little under two hours 28 bass.  A couple healthy Hogs up to 6.5lbs.
at one point I had three car stop in the road and watch me unhook a Hog.  i get the funniest questions while fishing. imagine fishing rod in hand, fish in hand, pliers in hand unhooking a 6 plus pound fish.  an having someone ask you are they're in any fish in that lake.
my answer nope they're aren't any fish for four hundred miles.  this is my pet fish. and this is his leash.   (grrrrrrrrrrr   btw here's your sign)
i tried other lures, including my trust zoom jerk bait in baby bass (I caught four fish caught on it).
a 4 inch storm swim bait in baby bass nothing no even a nibble.
rage shad and rage toads  nothing not even a look.  super spook jr first in black then in bone    nadda nuttin not even a sniff

they wanted that rattle trap in crawfish color.   the hooks are more crooked (bemt ta heck) than a politician.   i had a great couple hours.   sometime there just on fire.......
i promise to take pics from now on

Sometimes that pond fishing is just what the Dr ordered.  It can also be a blast.  Nice job!

I lived on a lake here in the bay area when I was a kid.  The best color worms that  worked for me was either purple or blue.  In the 15 years I lived on that lake, not one time did I catch a bass on a black worm.

Nice job!

I grew up fishing pods, & they can hold some nice bass.  In fact one of my favorite ponds was on a golf course that had some nice bass that I caught over and over.

As for the bass chasing the bass with the lure in its mouth.  Just about two months ago I caught two bass on the same topwater lure.  They actually hit it at the same time.  One was hooked on the front hook,  the other on the rear hook.  It was a first!

You did slay them, those are some good numbers and size. As for pictures you can always lay them on the ground and take a pic or set you camera to self shot and use one of these.

I keep one attached to my camera at all times. There are two sizes, the smaller one is about 20 bucks.

you right Snook   I have couple gorilla pods
i'll have leave on in the truck and mount on my camera.   being a lazy red neck   i sometimes get distracted by Shiny Things.

actually i'm looking to upgrade to an DSLR (prob a Nikon D80 or higher)  i figure with the pricing now being what it is.  it's way past time i upgraded.

on a side note has anyone ever noticed the beautiful bird life right in Carrollwood (both old Carrollwood an Carrollwood Village)
I have over the years seen a Bald Eagle (that was 7 years ago), Red tailed hawks (they hunt the Village just before dusk in groups of 5 to 7) Fascinating to watch.
Ospreys in pretty good numbers.
A large flocks of these medium sized green parrots (at least i think they're little parrots).  they're very noisy. i've seen flocks in the village of 2-300 birds.
they're the same parrot looking birds i see in south Florida (Miami, Ft L, the Key's and even in the Caymans)

i few years ago we had three otters in the lakes of Carrollwood as well.
now I've done it...      every red neck and his sister will be fishing the lakes now....    lol Beware the homeowners' association Nazi's.

I drive this red neck moblie

(most of the time anyway)

an this is me not the clearest pictures by i love these kinda signs.   fish next to everyone i see.

if you see me honk, wave, or stop.

The green bird you are talking about is the quaker parrot (Monk parakeet), you can find them all over Florida, they are native to south America.  Here is a picture

Just curious what do the association Nazis say to you? Do you ever get the police called on you?

Association Nazis

lol buddy do i some stories for you...i'll start by saying some people have way way way to much time on they're hands  (way to much)

I've lived in  the Village for 15 years.  in Three different house Phase 1, 2 , an 3
12 years ago I donated $1000.00 (yes three zero's) an I ani't no rich man were wuz.   any who i donated to the general fund of all three Phases to stock the ponds with Bass, varies other fishes.
10 years ago i donated another $250.00 for No Fishing signs...   that why  be liking dem dar signs so muches...  lol

but yes I have had the cops called me many many times (hillsborough and the rent-a-cops that patrols the Village.

'i've been called everything buy the son of God many times.  by one Ass'oc Nazi.
just laugh an keep right on a fishin.
but if they wanna stir the pot I'm more than happy to edgemakate em on da rules.

on more than one occasions I've given the Hillborough Counties finest an exrta Rod and put on em on fish just to spite the Nazi's.  yeah they just love that....

If that is the case then they really don't have any right to say anything to you....but they do anyway?  My association has no fishing or trespassing including members. I am on the board of my community's association which is part of the master and I still can't get a break. Here is the kicker, I pay association fees to the master association to maintain the lakes I can't use.

they actually do not have the right to say anything disrespectful to anyone.  it's just not neighborly
the sign were actually put up to keep the non residents out,( ie fishing, drinking beer, being loud,  an leaving trash all around.)
i live here in the Village  i take a trash bag with me in  my truck wherever i go (i throw them away often)  an pick up trash when a stop to fish.

in almost 15 yrs.  fishing those ponds i haven't kept one fish (not one) i don't really even eat fish.
i practice catch photo an release.
