I don't know if it's already been said, but daylight savings time ends at the end of this month.  It will be a lot lighter out a 7:00am. There's gonna be some good fishing missed there.

At least IMO

You're kidding us....right?

What a sarcastic one sided political response. Ironic that this comes from someone whose screen name is a anarchist. Even more ironic is that you agree with the closings. Don't you see the big picture? When I was young you could fish anywhere along the road, but now every place is fenced off or closed or controlled. I am not a conspiracy wacko but..... if it looks and smells like a dead fish....it must be a dead fish.

Mybe, if we know what the first day is that they will close, we can arrainge to do a mass protest with fishing. What would they do if the piers were full of people fishing??????????? so quit talking, lets do something, can somebody provide a closer date????????

It's not just there.  Feds to fishermen, "We don't need you".

Your right, I shouldn't have posted that. I deleted it.

Sorry to hear about the restrictions on your stomping grounds.  Better live it while you can, who knows what's coming next.

Nice tho see some bigger names in this.  It is nationwide.
Closures and regulation only work to the extent that people will abide by them.

(Oh and nice to see another name from the past pop up! I'd say welcome back, but I don't know if you ever left. )

As a former employee who was transferred from Fort D to another department and an avid fisherman of the fort it hurts alot of us to the a great park go on the down slide. We once had over 80 park personnel and now the staff is down to only nine full time people. Over 200 people have been lay ed off from parks. For over 20 years we kept the park in great shape as you would know using the place. Jim Wilson who now runs the park does the best he can with what he has to work with. He is out there picking papers and hoisting garbage with the other nine employees. They also need days off so sometimes there may be only two to four people on staff. Rest rooms are now being closed grass not mowed. Maintenance and security on the pier would require a few more people out there. At least once a month I would pressure clean all of the pier. You won't see that any more. The closing of the pier is terrible but the 200 plus people with out a job after 10 years of service is the sad est part. The fort was a great place to work. I still fish there when ever I can. I will personally say sorry about the closing of the pier. Look at your county commissioners for the answer. I'm sure they don't have any. They are all still working with nice pay increases while the rest of us have our pay froze for three years. It's not only the fisherman who use the pier sad about this whole mess.
